Penwith District Council Election, North Ward (1 seat)
North Ward
Because Penwith District Council elects councillors by 'thirds' there is only one district council seat up for election this year. Election by thirds means that one third of all district council seats come up for election each year. Since councillors are elected for four years there is no election in the fourth year.

Comment |
Unfortunately, there was no election in the South and East wards due to insufficient candidates. There is some good news in that all of the seats are filled and consequently there will be no question of having to 'co-opt' anyone. Quality Status requires at least 80% of the seats to be elected and both the South and East wards count towards this since candidates stood for the vacancies.
